Today marks 6 years of Jab Harry Met Sejal.

One of the lowest-rated movies of Imtiaz Ali on IMDB.

So, I thought of exploring reasons why this movie failed at the box office.

Although almost every second movie of Imtiaz Ali is a flop at the box office, they age like fine wine, with years people understand what he actually wanted to show, be it Rockstar or Tamasha or love aaj kal or Jab Harry Met Sejal.

Every movie becomes a cult classic after years of its release.

But talking about Jab Harry met Sejal specifically, I think the possible reason for its failure was

1. Weak plot device - The whole story revolves around the search for a lost ring, it's so illogical how can anyone even think of searching for something whose size is hardly 1 or 1.5 inches in the whole of Europe, it's just subconsciously people know that there is no logical plot of the movie.

2. Harry's unexplored past - Although we know that Harry left his house one night, came to Europe, and still misses his home and gets trauma too, we never know why he left his house or what happened in his past, or why he gets trauma.

3. Sejal story remains untold - the whole movie revolves around sejal searching for her engagement ring, but hardly we get to know about who is her fiance, what he does, from which family she belongs, and what was the reason she missed her flight just for the ring and then also for a person with she refuses to marry.

4. So many unnecessary scenes - if you just start watching clips of the movie on youtube, you'll really enjoy those, but if you will watch them all together in the movie, you will feel that movie is just jumping from one scene to another, and even in that most of the scenes are like that, even if you remove them, there will be no change in the story.

Although with all of these negative things which probably might be the reason for the failure of the movie at the box movie, I still enjoy watching it and like every other Imitiyaz Ali movie with time people also realized what the movie actually wanted to show, and after years it started getting the appreciation it always deserved.
