My dear #lgbtqia+ brothers and sisters.
I know that today's decision by the Supreme Court of India to decline #samesex marriage is a devastating blow. It is a setback for our community, and it is a reminder of the many challenges that we still face.
I've been #crying, #angry, and #frustrated for the past 12 hours.
I know that many of you are feeling the same way.
It's okay to feel these emotions.
It's okay to grieve.
We are grieving a future that we thought was within reach.
I know that you are angry and hurt today. I am too. But I want you to know that you are not alone. We are a community, and we are stronger together.
We will rise above this setback, and we will continue to fight for a better future for all of us.
But we must not give up. We must continue to fight for our rights.
We must continue to raise our voices and demand equality. We must not let this setback define us.
We will win this fight. We will achieve full equality for all LGBTQ+ people in India. But we can't do it alone.
We need to stand together and support each other. We need to be united.
So please, reach out to your LGBTQ+ loved ones.
Let them know that you are there for them.
Let them know that you are crying, angry, and frustrated too.
But,
let them also know that you are hopeful for the future.
Together, we will build a better India for all.
This is so amazing!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
Thank you for these words. They not only tell me I am not alone but also words emotions I couldn’t - “We are grieving future that we thought was within reach.”
